The 1992 team, coached by 2018 Walt Chyzowych Lifetime Achievement recipient, John Kowalski, which competed in Hong Kong is the only U.S. Men's team ever to compete in the final game of a world championship event, finishing second after losing 4-1 to Brazil.
Members of the ’92 squad reads like a who’s who of American soccer, including Jim Gabarra, coach of the Washington Spirit (National Women’s Soccer League) and Fernando Clavijo, technical director for FC Dallas (MLS). Mike Windischmann (team captain) represented the USA at the 1990 World Cup in Italy, while Jeff Agoos and Fernando Clavijo, played for the USA in the 1994 World Cup.
